The Dutch corporate finance company, Chestnut, specialises in valuations, acquisitions, and sales of companies as well as (re)-financings. With over 180 financial transactions completed successfully since being founded in 2002, the company has the necessary experience to assist its growing group of clients in the Netherlands and western Europe with advice. It focuses mainly on medium-sized organisations, professional investors and high-level management from its offices in Amsterdam and The Hague.
Daniel Legro, Co-Founder
Daniel gained a master’s degree in Business Economics from the University of Groningen, and complemented this with an Executive MBA programme from the Wharton School of Finance. Before founding Chestnut together with Bas van der Vegte in 2002, he worked for Merril Lynch & Co, where he was part of the Mergers and Acquisitions team in both London and San Francisco. Daniel has worked for companies in various sectors including energy, ICT, logistics, pharmaceuticals and corporate services.
Bas van der Vegte, Co-Founder
Bas is one of Chestnut’s founders, together with Daniel Legro, and he studied Law at Utrecht University. He spent 16 years at NIB Capital taking care of transactions for companies in shipping and aviation, logistics and more. He was also responsible for a portfolio worth over €4 billion in these sectors. From 1997 to 2001, he was responsible for the London branch of NIB Capital where he sat on the board of directors from 1999 until 2002.
